Combating Comparison With The Word Of God
Last week’s devotional talked about how we can avoid the Comparison Trap. Keeping our eyes on Jesus is a requirement but we should also acknowledge, appreciate, and focus on the gifts that He has given each of us. This morning I want to share a few scriptures with you that will help us shift our mindset. Each scripture has a personal affirmation attached to it. I want to challenge you to memorize each scripture and to quote them as often as needed as it will be your greatest external and internal weapon in the fight against comparison (Hebrews 4:12).
Scripture 1: “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts.Use them well to serve one another.”
1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
Affirmation: I will focus on the specific gifts that God has given me to use for His Glory and for the good of others!
Scripture 2: “A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.”
Proverbs 18:16 (amp)
Affirmation: As I focus on perfecting my gifts, I have faith to believe that the favor of God will go before me and make room for me!
Scripture 3: “In his grace, God has given us gifts for doing certain things well.”
Romans 12:6a (NLT)
Affirmation: I will walk in the grace that God has given me to do everything that I’ve been assigned to do well!
Scripture 4: “ Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy regardless of my circumstances.”
Philippians 4:11 (amp)
Affirmation: I am content in Christ’s because He is everything that I need in every circumstance!
Scripture 5: “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.”
