Take The Help
‘But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.’
John 14:26 (amp)
I was giving my mom a life update about a week ago and she dropped food for thought in my lap with this one statement. I’ll get to the statement in a minute but like many of you, I’ve been firing on all cylinders lately, juggling, and pushing through some fairly overwhelming things. As women, we aren’t strangers to hard work whether it is at home, in a physical workplace, or anywhere that we are needed. We give our ALL and with that it often leaves us to wonder, “who is here to help me?”
This is a valid question. We don’t always verbalize these feelings but our Heavenly Father already knows. Oftentimes “we fail to access the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.” This was the statement that my mom made during our conversation last week and it stuck with me. I’m an inquisitive person but this time those questions rolled over on me. Why am I choosing the struggle over the Gift of the Holy Spirit? In our anchor scripture, Jesus is speaking to His followers. He wanted to make sure that they were prepared to continue His work in His absence. He also wanted them to know that He would NOT leave them helpless. The same is true for us today.
We have help because the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, the third person of the Trinity, lives on the inside of every Believer. Here’s the question: Will you take the help? The Holy Spirit will lead us, guide us, comfort us, go before us, strengthen us, intercede for us and the list goes on! The Holy Spirit will also convict us and show us where we have overlooked our need for help. We must be open to this correction. So before we go down a path of overwhelm this week and moving forward, stop and come to the realization that you have all the help that you need!
